Edith's Home
The Edith's Home Project works with total HIV/AIDS orphans in the community of Ngora, a small town in the Teso region of Uganda. In 2006 Edith's Home became a part of the City Life Church Charity (UK registered charity number 1100602). All Edith's Home accounts are audited along with the church accounts, but all donations to the project are kept separate.
Because of very limited resources, these children are put to the "bottom of the pile" in an already strained family situation. Edith's Home provide sponsorship of school fees and vocational training for orphans and support them psychologically and spiritually. More recently we have set up micro enterprise initiatives to help sustain the project: food storage, farming, business loan schemes and office services. The project began in 2004 and at present supports over 100 orphans within their extended family context.
Edith's Home employs around 10 local people to help deliver training programs, give 1:1 support, administrate the project, farm the land and for teaching and security. UK teams strengthen the link between with the UK support base. The team attends an AGM with the Ugandan staff, and evaluates the progress of the project. Sponsors receive personal feedback from the orphans.
Edith's Home is named after an elderly lady whose heart for orphaned children inspired our team during time in Ngora. Although Edith has no children of her own, her time and resources are poured into children from her extended family who have been orphaned for a variety of reasons: AIDS, poverty and war.
Our vision is to build a sustainable, empowered, ambitious generation who know and love God and who are equipped with integrity and vision for the future. You can visit their website here or make a donation below.
