Our Community

City Life is moving...

In the past few years, we have been looking for a new meeting venue as we have grown and become quite full on a Sunday morning at Cantell School. In recent weeks, we have started to talk to the leaders of the local Methodist circuit and have agreed to form a new partnership around Swaythling Methodist Church, incorporating the group of Methodists that meet there, Flower of Justice and ourselves. We are going to start meeting there with a multiplex of three celebrations on a Sunday morning from September. There is free parking nearby at Parkville Road (SO16 2JA).

Swaythling MethodistWe will not be hiring or buying Swaythling Methodist but will be entering a partnership with them and New Community to make the building effective in being a place of light for the local community, the University and the nations.  The details of the partnership has yet to be worked out and three working groups have been set up to achieve this: People for Legal and Finance; Church Leaders to work out practicalities of what will happen in the building and a Building Development Group to look at how to develop the functionality of the building, which is vast with 5 halls and some 26 rooms.

Our missional communities reaching into the streets, into the communities around the Oasis Academies and with Internationals will continue and take place on Sunday Evenings.

For more about what that means for us, please listen to Paul Woodman's talk from 4th July. If you have any questions or comments or if you are able to help in the coming weeks with the move, please let us know by email.
