Since 2001, City Life Church has run a project called CLEAR (City Life Education and Action for Refugees) providing support and advice for refugees in Southampton. The project provides English classes, employment support, mentoring and one-to-one advice.

Hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers receive support from from the CLEAR project each year. People come from across at least 25 different countries. In the midst of the negative media campaign, our volunteers and staff have heard the personal stories of people fleeing desperate situations. It is perhaps because of this, that volunteers have given of their time so freely and members of staff have worked beyond the call of duty. We are very thankful for the kind donation of time by volunteers and the generous financial support of individuals, trusts and companies.
