Student Cells
As a cell based church, we actively encourage students to try and join one of our mid-week cell groups as early as possible in their time at University. Joining a cell is the best way to get plugged in to City Life as here you get to know people much better, much quicker. Cell is a place where we seek to learn together through Bible study and teaching, but also through putting this teaching in to practice in a safe environment.
Each cell is mission and discipleship focused – we seek to grow each other up in the faith, supporting each other practically and through prayer. This is done more often than not in a group rather than one2one setting and usually in the context of daily life, rather than having a sacred / secular divide. We encourage cell members to get involved in each others lives rather than being a group of strangers who get together once a week.
All of this is also done within the context of mission – prayer and evangelism, or social events that you can simply invite friends along to with out worrying that we will preach at them. The good news that relationship with God is possible for all through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus is not something we want to keep to ourselves. We want to share this with others but we seek to do this when people are ready to hear. Through these social gatherings we hope to positively influence people through our lifestyles, example and conversation so they become interested enough to ask about our lives and the God we worship and serve, rather than us launching in and telling them about a God they are not yet interested in.
Belong is one such type of pre-Exploring Christianity initiative where friends can come together and hang out and we can get to know each other and take interest in each other's lives.
