Hope into Action: Southampton (HiA:S), a project of City Life Church Southampton and part of the national charity Hope into Action UK, believes that everyone deserves a home. We partner with local churches to house and support the most vulnerable in our community, including ex-street homeless individuals, recovering addicts, refugees, survivors of domestic abuse, and ex-offenders. Together, we are transforming lives in the heart of Southampton.

Invest

We believe that investing in homes for people wanting to leave homelessness behind is a great way to steward financial resources - investing into the poor and marginalised rather than making the rich richer.  This isn't a great rich quick scheme, but as you invest you will be making a difference to the lives of people in need, whilst hopefully gaining a modest return on your investment (a 2% per annum lease payment, plus any capital appreciation in the property).

Begin your investment journey by discussing your goals with our team, whether individually or as part of a group. We are experienced in working with both individual and groups of investors as well as churches and charitable bodies looking to positively utilise cash reserves.  You don't have to be in a position to afford to buy a whole house on your own, we can connect you with others in the same position.

Once we have enough investment we will work to find a suitable property and handle the purchase and refurbishment process. As an investor, you retain ownership and lease it to us for five years.  We then handle tenant placement, maintenance, and support. Each property is supported by a Hope into Action Empowerment Worker and a local church, providing tenants with mentoring, friendship and a loving community.  Our model helps address the increasing housing need whilst positively benefiting tenants, churches, and investors.

As an investor your details will remain confidential, and you will receive bi-annual reports on finances, property condition, and tenant progress. We are always ready to discuss any aspect of your investment at any time.  If you'd like to find out more about investing, we'd love to hear from you!

Partner

We believe churches have a crucial role to play in transforming the lives of those experiencing homelessness through acceptance, love, prayer, and community.  We never open a home unless there is a church partnership in place to provide love and friendship as we believe community is as important as housing in ending homelessness.

We partner exclusively with churches, understanding their needs and what they are able to contribute, and provide support every step of the way. Partnership doesn't require a huge commitment from churches as we take on the majority of the work of running the house and the project, including: sourcing and refurbishing a property, assessing referrals, arranging tenancies, dealing with benefits, collecting rent and providing professional support. This enables our church partners to concentrate on what they do best: offering prayer and friendship, mentoring and discipling, building community and loving people well.
